Working towards a plastic-free Chagford Show

Chagford became a ‘plastic-free community’ in 2020, being recognized under the national Surfers Against Sewage initiative. The campaign is designed to get the whole community active and doing something positive to reduce the amount of plastic in the local environment, leading to cleaner seas, beaches, riverbanks, streets and countryside. Chagford businesses, the primary school, the church, Proper Job recycling centre and community groups have all embraced the campaign.

Chagford Show is also making a conscious effort to eliminate avoidable, single-use plastic from the showground. While we cannot cut out all plastic items straight away, we will aim to raise awareness, gain support and build a stronger platform on which to build further action.
